Knowledge of:
1. Human anatomy and physiology.
2. Pathophysiological conditions resulting from injury and disease.
3. Concepts and scope of physical therapy and its relationships to other health care professions.
4. Professional ethics and conduct.
5. Current CPR and TSI techniques.
Ability to:
1. Establish effective therapeutic relationships with mentally or developmentally disabled persons.
2. Utilize recognized methods in applying physical therapy techniques.
3. Follow directions and work under close supervision.
4. Observe and record responses to treatment.
5. Keep accurate records.
6. Observe and accurately record the physical therapy patient’s signs, symptoms, and behavior, and also observe progress or lack of progress toward treatment goals.
7. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
8. Work effectively and cooperatively with patients, unit/program staff, and other program/department staff and community groups.
9. Provide a safe, secure, and healthy environment for physical therapy patients.
10. Maintain alertness, analyze situations and take effective and timely action.
Skill In:
1. Communication/Instruction – Talking to others to convey information effectively; teach others how to do something.
2. Active Listening – Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand and asking questions as appropriate.
3. Coordination – Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
